karl marx quotes on socialism
Why do people say America is not a Republic?

Did you know the word democracy never appears in the Declaration of Independence or the US Constitution.

Likewise when we start the pledge of allegiance we state:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands.

When did democracy end up in the minds of popular culture?

Some famous quotes about democracy.

“We are now forming a Republican form of government. Real Liberty is not found in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments. If we incline too much to democracy, we shall soon shoot into a monarchy, or some other form of dictatorship.”
–Alexander Hamilton

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
– John Adams, 1814

Democracy is the road to socialism.
–Karl Marx

Very interesting quotes. To my knowledge a Republic indicates that the people will govern themselves. With all these regulations, taxes and dirty politics I would say that the US is becoming less & less of a Republic because we are slowly having our freedoms & liberties taken from us.
IE, the school choice debacle. We live in a failing school district and will probably either have to move or drop $12K/year to send our daughter to a decent school. How is that liberty?
