literary marxist criticism
1st year English Lit student: Can anyone recommend a good book as an introduction to literary theory …?

Our tutor has been told it's a good idea to try to become familiar with the various schools of literary theory – Sex / structuralist, feminist, psychoanalytic, Marxist, deconstruction, etc. etc, I've already bought the Norton Anthology of Theory and criticism, but I wonder if there may be some good introductory books that could … uh … take my hand. I thought the purchase of Terry Eagleton Introduction to the Theory of bed, but I'm not sure if it takes a bit of a man "grumpy old man" school approach to thinking (eg, postmodernism) Anyway! If anyone could recommend a good introductory book would be very grateful! Thank you!

In junior, Terry Eagleton is large, bright and always refer to the form and during the trip. The fact that a trailer online especially in the critical movements can actually be compared with other theoretical evidence. The link is below a book bought in college for a level of English Literature. It was a valuable introduction and still refer to it for clarification on the points that are still quite difficult to control, especially when making a critical and cultural theory module. This book extends the theme of Raymond Williams’s earlier work in literary and cultural analysis. He analyses previous contributions to a Marxist theory of literature from Marx himself to Lukacs, Althusser, and Goldmann, and develops his own approach by outlining a theory of ‘cultural materialism’ which integrates Marxist theories of language with Marxist theories of literature. Williams moves fro…

The Reification of Desire: Toward a Queer Marxism

The Reification of Desire takes two critical perspectives rarely analyzed together—formative arguments for Marxism and those that have been the basis for queer theory—and productively scrutinizes these ideas both with and against each other to put forth a new theoretical connection between Marxism and queer studies. Kevin Floyd brings queer critique to bear on the Marxian categories of reifi…
